Job Summary
Safely load and unload heavy equipment such as excavators, rock trucks, dump trucks, and dozers onto and off 7 through 13 axle lowboy trailers. Operate tractor-trailer combinations with loads on state and federal highway systems, navigating local, high-volume, and open road traffic. Properly track and document activity logs, conduct daily pre-shift vehicle and equipment inspections, and perform required fluid, filter, and safety checks. Inspect, clean, and perform minor repairs using hand tools, or report malfunctions to the Mobilization Supervisor. Read and interpret equipment manuals, site-specific rules, and maintenance instructions while maintaining company vehicles in a clean, orderly state. Work in areas of uneven terrain and extreme temperatures, representing Saiia by presenting a positive image to internal and external customers.
Required Qualifications
- High school education or G.E.D
- Minimum of five years over the road driving experience, heavy wrecker experience, construction-based equipment mobilization, or a suitable combination of each
- Must have and maintain a valid state issued CDL Class A-Driver's License with driving record that meets Saiia's risk management guidelines
- Must maintain an acceptable driving record
- Must be able to maintain acceptable attendance standards per employee handbook
- Must have a sense of responsibility for the safety of the public, the work crew, self, and all other employees
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
- Adheres to all company, client, and project policies, procedures, standards, including but not limited to the safety manual, and the employee handbook
- Ability to use email, smart phone, tablet, or computer to manage company information and documents
- Ability to load and unload various types of heavy equipment used in the construction industry on to and off 7, 8, 9, 10, 11 and 13 axle lowboy (RGN) trailers
- Familiar with FMCSA and DOT regulations, permitting and routing
- Must be able to effectively lead and coach others
