Job Summary
Local delivery driver responsible for running daily routes, loading packages onto hand trucks and unloading at stops, cross-dock activities, and delivering to customers in a customer-facing role. Responsibilities include verifying deliveries, obtaining signatures, communicating discrepancies to management, and performing pre-trip inspections in accordance with DOT regulations. Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds, operate a straight truck (Class B, with Class A preferred), and maintain safety and inventory practices while providing strong customer relations and problem resolution on each route.
Required Qualifications
- Education High School or GED or equivalent
- One year route delivery experience or applicable background driving a straight truck
- Valid Commercial Driver's License – Class B (Class A preferred)
- Ability to read and speak English sufficiently to converse with the general public and to understand highway traffic signs and signals
- DOT regulations knowledge and pre-trip/post-trip inspection responsibilities
- Proven customer relations and problem resolution skills
- Experience in loading/unloading using hand trucks
- Ability to lift up to 50-80 lbs intermittently
- Strong arithmetic and inventory awareness
