Job Summary
Manage service line integration and strategic planning for the Clinical Documentation Integrity department. Conduct focused and second-level reviews of admissions, assigning DRGs and Value-Based Purchasing measures. Collaborate with providers to clarify documentation via queries and ensure compliance with CMS regulations. Report clinical data to support system-wide quality initiatives and provider outcomes. Mentor Level I and II specialists while assisting the manager on assigned projects.
Required Qualifications
- Certification in Certified Documentation Integrity Practitioner (CDIP) through the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA)
- Certification in Certified Clinical Documentation Specialist (CCDS) through the Association of Clinical Documentation Integrity Specialists (ACDIS)
- Certification in Certified Documentation Expert Inpatient (CDEI) through the American Association of Professional Coders (AAPC)
- Three (3) years Inpatient acute care coding experience
- Three (3) years clinical RN experience in Inpatient acute care setting
- Three (3) of clinical LPN experience in Inpatient acute care setting
- Five (5) years of experience in Clinical Documentation Integrity
- Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Must possess the knowledge of related provider healthcare compliance, revenue cycle operations, and auditing techniques
- Must possess the ability to accept mentoring, education and training from others
- Must meet quality and productivity standards
- Must be able to concentrate and maintain accuracy during constant interruptions
- Must possess the ability to prioritize job duties
- Must be able to adapt to changes in the workplace and work assignments
- Must possess organizational and time management skills
- Must possess the knowledge of anatomy, physiology and medical terminology
- Must possess analytical and problem-solving skills
- Must be proficient in office software programs
- Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision
- Must be able to sit for long periods of time
- Must have visual and hearing acuity within the normal range
- Must have manual dexterity needed to operate computer and office equipment
- May require travel
