Job Summary
Plan and set up the classroom environment according to program curriculum, documents, and ongoing observations including Desired Results Developmental Profile (DRDP) and progress notes. Assist with daily lesson plans reflecting curriculum goals and individual child needs while ensuring safety through daily health checks and safety checklists. Organize and supervise activities promoting physical, mental, and social development, maintaining visual supervision and accurate census of children. Review and plan classroom experiences with the teacher, work with the team to create a supportive climate of care, and assist with family resources during parent conferences. Participate in case conferencing for children 0-5, attend staff meetings and trainings, and perform substitute duties at other locations as needed.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma (or equivalent)
- Twelve units (12) in Early Childhood Education or Child Development including core courses (Child Development, Child, Family & Society, Principles & Practices and any other 3 units ECE/CD) with a passing grade of C or better
- A minimum experience of 50 days/ 3 or more hours per day within 2 years in a child care center or setting
- Applying for the Child Development Associate Teacher's permit within 30 days of hire
- Maintaining appropriate Child Development Permit
- Completing 25 hours of professional growth, annually
- Travel and attending out of area meetings and conferences as required per the funding source(s)
- Working variable hours and days, including those outside regular Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. business hours
- Criminal Record Clearance including California DOJ, FBI and Child Abuse Centralized Index (CACI), National Sex Offender Public Website (NSOPW), and the California Sex and Arson Registry (CSAR) (Megan's Law)
- Reliable, insured transportation and a valid California Driver License
- Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) acceptable to KCAO's vehicle insurer
- Health examination with tuberculin clearance
- Documentation of Measles and Pertussis immunizations
- Ability to be contacted outside of regularly scheduled work hours in case of emergency
- Compliance with KCAO's Drug Free Workplace policy
- Compliance with E-Verify program requirements
