Job Summary

Serve as the final technical authority during critical incidents, leading deep-dive forensic analyses to identify root causes and provide immediate workarounds or permanent fixes. Utilize advanced debugging and packet analysis to isolate complex network anomalies, while conducting independent, peer-level reviews of proposed architectural changes to identify hidden risks and configuration vulnerabilities. Validate complex route redistribution strategies, BGP policy implementations, and high-availability designs prior to production deployment, and provide expert guidance on lifecycle management and technology roadmaps. Advise leadership on high-risk technical decisions and contribute to the development of network standards, best practices, and operational runbooks. This CCIE-Level Cisco Network Engineering Consultant supports a construction client in a remote, project-based engagement with a 6-month duration and CET ±3 hours timezone.

Required Qualifications

  • Active CCIE Certification (Enterprise Infrastructure or Routing & Switching)
  • Minimum of 10+ years of experience supporting large-scale, mission-critical, and global Cisco environments
  • Demonstrable experience supporting mission-critical Cisco environments with thousands of users and multiple data centers
  • Proven track record of successfully resolving complex, multi-vendor network incidents at the highest technical level
  • Expert-level command of OSPF (multi-area, LSA types, summarization)
  • Expert-level command of EIGRP
  • Advanced BGP configuration, policy-based routing, route filtering, AS-Path manipulation, and complex route redistribution strategies
  • Deep understanding of MPLS L3VPNs, L2VPNs, and/or Segment Routing (SR-MPLS)
  • Advanced design and troubleshooting of VSS (Virtual Switching System) and StackWise Virtual
  • Expert knowledge of stateful failover mechanisms, NSF (Non-Stop Forwarding), and graceful restart
  • In-depth knowledge of campus and data center switching architectures, spanning-tree optimization, VLAN design, and QoS implementations
  • Demonstrated ability to function clearly and effectively during high-stakes, high-pressure outages
  • Ability to explain complex technical issues to non-technical executives (CTO, CIO) in clear business terms
  • Must be able to respond to selective engagement requests with urgency (specific SLA for response to activation required)
  • Ability to operate autonomously, providing unbiased, peer-level analysis without reliance on vendor scripts
  • Active CCIE Certification (Enterprise Infrastructure or Routing & Switching) is mandatory

Desired Qualifications

  • Deep understanding of MPLS L3VPNs, L2VPNs, and/or Segment Routing (SR-MPLS) is highly desirable
  • Familiarity with VXLAN, EVPN, and Cisco ACI is considered a strong asset
