CCHS SOCCER VARSITY ASSISTANT COACH (Part-time)

Job Summary
Coach student athletes in game strategies and techniques to prepare them for athletic competition and motivate them to develop an appreciation of the sport. Implement the Mission and Vision Statements of Crossroads Christian Church and School, as well as the CCS Athletics MVP Initiative within coaching and leading the varsity soccer team. Assess players' skills, assign positions, and develop a regular practice schedule to provide individual and team development. Ensure all players are cleared by the Athletic Department and CIF requirements before participation, while establishing standards of student behavior and providing proper supervision. Follow established procedures for athlete injuries and state, regional, and district regulations. Maintain eligibility forms, emergency data cards, and equipment inventory records. Participate in special activities including parent nights, banquets, and assemblies, and communicate effectively with parents, staff, and booster clubs.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)
- In-depth knowledge and experience in sport
- Minimum one-year high school varsity coaching experience preferred
- Ability to obtain a valid CPR/First Aid card, SS card, and mandatory coaching application requirements (concussion protocol training certificate, if necessary for the sport)
- Letters of recommendation (2)
- Ability to stand, walk, and move around the field for extended periods during practices and games
- Must be able to lift and carry football equipment and demonstrate drills to players
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and during school breaks for games and practices
- Committed to a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and a compassionate servant equipped with Biblical moral standards
- Provide Christian and coaching excellence in the leadership of the school
- Implement the Mission and Vision Statements of Crossroads Christian Church and School, as well as the CCS Athletics MVP Initiative within coaching and leading their respective sport
- Willingness to attend coaching training if made available
- Active participation in all athletic meetings
- Focus on working closely with all school staff by providing any information regarding a player's behavior change, attitude and/or athletic performance
- Ensures all players have been cleared by the Athletic Department in respect to school and, if necessary, CIF requirements before participation
- Assesses players' skills and assigns team positions
- Develops a regular practice schedule and organizes practice time to provide both individual and team development
- Works with the Athletic Director in scheduling facilities for practices and competition in a timely manner
- Performs expected and reasonable duties assigned by the head coach as necessary
- Coaches and instructs players, individually or in groups, regarding the rules, regulations, equipment, and techniques of the sport
- Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior and always provides proper supervision of athletes
- Follows established procedures in the event of an athlete's injury
- Follows state, regional, and district/league/school regulations governing the athletic program
- Models Christ-like behavior and maintains appropriate conduct towards players, officials, and spectators
- Participate in special activities to include parent nights, banquets, award nights, and assemblies
- Maintains eligibility forms, emergency data cards, equipment inventory, and other related records
- Effective communication with parents and staff
- Development of a positive working relationship with booster clubs/donors/corporate sponsors
