Job Summary

Direct care, guidance, and instruction to children in the MAOF Child Care and Pre-School Program, including preparing and following lesson plans across dramatic play, science, math, art, music, language, nutrition, and motor skills. Supervise teacher assistants and volunteers while maintaining ongoing observations, progress reports, and Individual Education Plans for each child. Conduct daily inspections of facilities, ensure safety through rule implementation, and organize positive routines with active and quiet activities. Engage parents in educational activities through conferences and documentation, while recruiting families for CDES programs. Maintain clean environments, record meal summaries, and participate in staff meetings and workshops.

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Must possess a valid Associate Teacher permit from the State of California Commission on Teacher Credentialing
  • 3 Infant and Toddler units
  • Minimum of 1 year classroom experience working with preschool children
  • Must possess Pediatric CPR and Pediatric First Aid Certificate (every year thereafter)
  • Skill in oral and written communication
  • Must be able to write clear and concise reports
  • Must be able to read, write and communicate
  • Bilingual, English and Spanish required
  • Must meet State health requirements including passing a physical examination and a Tuberculosis (TB) as a condition of employment
  • Must be fingerprinted and cleared through the Justice Department
  • Must provide vaccination records for influenza, pertussis, and measles at the time of employment, annual requirement thereafter
  • Must have a valid California driver's license, have use of a motor vehicle and provide evidence of automobile liability insurance
  • Must have positive attitude with a desire to work with and promote the welfare of children and their families
  • Sensitive to the needs of the program and the children
  • Sensitivity and the ability to work well with diverse ethnic, religious and cultural groups
  • Maintain confidentiality
  • Regular attendance, Monday thru Friday, according to schedule provided by the site supervisor
