Job Summary
Conduct drug utilization reviews and prepare criteria for committees. Consult with medical staff on medication utilization, dosages, side effects, and drug interactions. Monitor drug therapy for clinical appropriateness and intervene on adverse reactions or incompatibilities. Advise staff on non-reimbursable medications and suggest alternate therapies. Supervise pharmacy technicians in daily duties, inventory checks, and training. Ensure secure storage of controlled substances and maintain perpetual inventory. Participate in department quality improvement programs by analyzing data and identifying trends. Review policies and protocols annually to ensure compliance with federal and state regulations. Maintain knowledge of regulatory standards and attend required training. Respond to stand-by call and telephone consultations as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in pharmacy from an accredited school of pharmacy
- Two years previous experience as a hospital pharmacist
Desired Qualifications
- Doctor of Pharmacy or equivalent
- Certifications of any specialized area of training
