Job Summary
The Literacy Coach 3-5 position focuses on enhancing instructional effectiveness across P-12 by providing student-focused, collaborative coaching to teachers in classrooms and virtually. The role involves modeling high-leverage practices, co-planning, co-assessing, co-teaching, and using student evidence to guide instructional decisions; facilitating reflective conversations on curricular expectations; supporting Professional Learning Communities and Student Success Plans; analyzing provincial and school data to inform priorities; conducting virtual coaching and collaboration; designing PD aligned with provincial/ regional priorities; and coordinating with administrators and EECD partners to improve student achievement. Strong emphasis on literacy leadership, SRSD implementation, data-driven instruction, and leveraging digital tools and resources to support teachers and students. May perform other related duties as assigned and reports to the School Principal or Regional Director/Coordinator.
Required Qualifications
- Nova Scotia Teaching Certificate
- Minimum 5 years of classroom experience with grades 3-5
- Leadership experience in literacy initiatives at classroom/school/regional/provincial levels
- Experience with SRSD and instructional coaching
- Completion of relevant leadership/mentoring modules or equivalents
- Strong understanding of curricular expectations and provincial/regional priorities
