Job Summary

School Psychologist position within the Cape Breton-Victoria Regional Centre for Education. Responsibilities include indirect and direct services such as collaborating with school teams, developing IPPs, providing psycho-educational assessments, counselling students and parents, maintaining records, and coordinating with community agencies to support behavioural, emotional, and academic development. Qualifications require a Master of Arts/Science in School Psychology and registration with the Nova Scotia Board of Examiners in Psychology (or eligible as a candidate). Salary aligned with the NSTU Provincial Collective Agreement; position is described as permanent full-time with a 12-month contract. Emphasis on inclusive, culturally responsive supports and collaboration with educators and mental health professionals.

Required Qualifications

  • Master of Arts/Science in School Psychology
  • Registered by the Nova Scotia Board of Examiners in Psychology (minimum Candidate Register)

  • Registration by the Nova Scotia Board of Examiners in Psychology requires that an individual has an approved graduate degree in psychology from a recognized university program and fulfills the required supervised work experience and examinations
  • Individuals who are eligible for registration in Nova Scotia and are being supervised by a registered psychologist during their candidacy period are referred to as a “Psychologist (Candidate Register)”
  • When parent/guardian consent is obtained for an assessment by a candidate register psychologist, the parents/guardians must be informed that a Nova Scotia Board of Examiner Supervisor will have access to the students' school records in supervising the candidate register psychologist
