Job Summary
Paint aircraft and support equipment surfaces in a Navy depot environment: remove paint and corrosion products, prepare surfaces, apply coatings, coat insignia/letters/numerals, and ensure cleanliness and safety. Coordinate with supervision/QA on procedures, document work in systems, adhere to FOD and hazardous waste regulations, and assist with ordering parts/tools. Role may involve off-site services and various certifications/training to comply with Navy/NADEP painting requirements and environmental/safety standards.
Required Qualifications
- Must have a minimum of HS diploma or equivalent
- In the past six years, three years of experience in one of: corrosion identification/removal/treatment/preservation on aircraft and aircraft components OR equivalent civilian painting experience OR documented completion of OJT syllabus for T/M/S (Type/Model/Series)
- Must satisfactorily complete one of: a 40-hour course for removal, prevention and treatment OR an 80-hour course of instruction on Naval Aircraft Painting and Touch-up equivalent to NADEP paint course (note: painters of support equipment do not require the 40-hour course)
- Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English
- Must be able to obtain and maintain CAC and clearance required by Government
- Must have a valid state Drivers License
- May be required to obtain and maintain CAC or security clearances
- May be required to become Aircraft Jack and Support Equipment certified
- Possess Hazardous Waste training and related certifications
- Possess FOD and TCP Awareness Training
- Possess Respirator training and fitting
- Possess other listed certifications such as ORMs, Aircraft Towing, Brake Rider, etc.
