Job Summary
Coordinate 8–12 concurrent research studies across commercial feedlots and calf grower operations in Canada, the USA, and Mexico, managing logistics with on-farm partners and ensuring alignment with quality standards. Conduct on-site sample collection including nasal, fecal, and feed samples, then compile large, clean datasets from multiple sources to build analysis-ready files. Support study execution by communicating protocols to cattle managers, troubleshooting implementation issues, and resolving data gaps with site managers. Compile results into tables, reports, and slide presentations to inform product decisions and producer recommendations. Requires a Master's degree in animal science or related discipline, advanced Excel proficiency, and direct experience handling live cattle.
Required Qualifications
- Master's Degree in animal science, agriculture, epidemiology, or a related discipline
- Proven experience coordinating research projects and working with research data
- Comfort and confidence handling live cattle
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel (formulas, pivot tables, data validation, multi-sheet workbooks)
- Ability to manage multiple concurrent studies with competing deadlines, prioritize tasks, and maintain attention to detail in a data-intensive role
- Ability to communicate technical study protocols clearly to non-technical on-farm partners
- Strong critical thinking
- Ability to troubleshoot data issues and logistics challenges, independently and collaboratively
Desired Qualifications
- Familiarity with feedlot production systems and cattle health/nutrition fundamentals
- Basic understanding of statistical analysis and data visualization
- Bilingual (English/Spanish)
- Experience with automated data collection systems or farm management software
