Job Summary
Coordinate the Catholic Religious Education Program at the Seymour Johnson Chapel by developing annual calendars, planning events, and supervising weekly religious education programs. Manage volunteer recruitment, training, and scheduling while coordinating room setup, speaker logistics, and material procurement. Submit weekly status updates, budget requests, and consolidated volunteer lists to the Catholic Chaplain, ensuring all documentation adheres to privacy and fund usage requirements. Arrive fifteen minutes prior to scheduled activities and maintain backup personnel lists. This part-time 960-hour contract requires a catechist with two years of experience and Archdiocese certification.
Required Qualifications
- 1099 contractor status with Music Ministry International
- At least two years of experience as a catechist in a Chapel or church setting
- Endorsement letter for work from their parish leader upon submission of initial quote documentation
- Archdiocese of the Military Services Catechist Certification or certification completed within ninety (90) days of contract award
- Experience working with Catholic children's programs including Sunday RE, sacramental preparation for reconciliation, Eucharist and children's liturgy of the Word
- Training and experience working in the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults process
- Minimum of one year experience with recruiting and training catechists and other volunteers
- Basic working knowledge of budgets
- Pastoral or parish supervisor's letter which can attest to the candidate's good work and steadiness
