Catholic Musician Pianist or Organist

Job Summary
Conduct weekly Catholic worship services as a pianist or organist at the MCB Hawaii chapel, performing approximately one hour of music each Sunday at 0930 hours with on-site presence before and after each service. Select appropriate liturgical music in consultation with the priest, submit monthly performance plans by the 15th, and lead rehearsals for vocalists and instrumentalists. Coordinate microphone placement, manage equipment storage, and provide slide presentations for lyrics when requested. Perform additional services for holidays, seasonal events, and special needs as required. Recruit and train choir members to support the congregation's religious education and outreach programs.
Required Qualifications
- Exceptional ability to play piano and organ
- Ability to direct a choir
- Ability to sing
- Ability to read and play traditional, contemporary, and new age music
- Familiarity with the current liturgical traditions of the Catholic Church
- Ability to select appropriate music to be performed each week in consultation with the Catholic priest
- Ability to submit a proposed plan for music to the technical representative and Catholic priest for review
- Ability to provide pianist/organist services each week, 1.5 hours per week, for 52 weeks per calendar year
- Ability to provide slide presentation of lyrics for each service if requested
- Ability to conduct rehearsals for approximately one one-hour session per week
- Ability to coordinate microphone placement and usage
- Ability to be responsible for proper storage of items after the service
- Ability to perform worship services at special services as necessary for holidays, Holy Days, seasonal services, and other special needs
- Ability to be on site at least 15 minutes prior and 15 minutes after each service
- Ability to recruit and train vocalists and instrumentalists from the congregation
- Ability to provide three references from individuals who can attest to the candidate's good work and steadiness
- One reference must be a priest or pastor who can attest to the candidate's abilities as they relate to this job posting
