Job Summary

Direct weekly choir rehearsals and Catholic Mass music, selecting liturgical music and conducting warm-ups before services. Recruit, organize, and train choir members while coordinating selections with the Catholic Priest. Provide solo or accompanied vocal music, set up audio equipment, and operate the chapel sound system. Support special services, funerals, and other approved events, including providing a qualified substitute when unavailable. Submit monthly activity reports and participate in Pastoral Council meetings. Requires at least five years directing choirs for Catholic Masses, knowledge of liturgy, and ability to speak, read, and write English. Must pass background screening and obtain Maxwell AFB access. Wednesday rehearsals at 6:30 PM, Saturday and Sunday Masses, with additional availability for Holy Days and other activities.

Required Qualifications

  • At least 5 years of experience directing choirs for Catholic Masses
  • Knowledge of Catholic liturgy, hymns, and seasonal worship music
  • Ability to direct different styles of Catholic music
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to speak, read, write, and understand English
  • Ability to pass required background screening and obtain Maxwell AFB access
  • Reliable transportation
  • Availability for the required schedule

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience as a Catholic cantor or instrumentalist
  • Ability to play an instrument while directing a choir
  • Ability to sight-read music and accompany vocalists
  • Bachelor's degree in Music, Catholic Liturgy, Religious Studies, or a related field
  • Previous military chapel or Catholic ministry experience
