Job Summary
Plan and select music for weekly Masses, special services, Holy Days, funerals, and memorials. Lead worship teams, organize rehearsals, and recruit volunteer musicians and singers. Play piano, keyboard, or guitar to accompany soloists, choirs, and praise teams. Prepare lyrics, presentation materials, and set up microphones, stands, and instruments before services. Coordinate regularly with church leadership regarding upcoming events and maintain a professional, organized music program. Keep music areas clean and orderly after rehearsals.
Required Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years old
- Must have a high school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of two years of experience leading or playing music in a church, chapel, or similar worship environment
- Ability to read sheet music
- Knowledge of vocal harmony and music arrangement
- Ability to play piano, keyboard, guitar, or another appropriate lead instrument
- Experience working with singers, choirs, and musicians
- Familiarity with music commonly used in Catholic worship
- Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills
- Ability to work effectively with volunteers and individuals from diverse backgrounds
- Must be dependable, professional, self-motivated, and able to work independently
