Job Summary
Provide professional piano and/or organ accompaniment for Sunday Catholic Masses at 8:00 AM and 11:00 AM, including approximately 30 minutes of preparation and warm-up. Prepare and perform hymns, preludes, postludes, and sacred selections while coordinating with the Catholic Priest, Choir Director, and chapel staff on music selection and worship planning. Accompany the choir and congregation during services, participate in weekly rehearsals, and learn new liturgical music as required. Adapt accompaniment to the needs of clergy, cantors, and the congregation while supporting special Masses and seasonal observances. Safeguard chapel instruments and maintain professional conduct appropriate to the military environment. Obtain a Letter of Sustainability from a Catholic parish and satisfy Eglin AFB background requirements.
Required Qualifications
- Demonstrated proficiency in piano and/or organ
- Experience providing musical accompaniment for church or religious worship services
- Working knowledge of Catholic liturgy, sacred music, hymns, and worship traditions
- Ability to read music and learn new musical selections efficiently
- Ability to accompany congregational singing, choirs, and other vocalists
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Ability to work effectively with clergy, chapel staff, choir leadership, volunteers, and members of the military community
- Must be reliable, punctual, professional, and able to perform with limited supervision
- Must be able to satisfy applicable Eglin AFB installation access and background requirements
- Must be in good standing with a Catholic parish
- Be able to obtain the required Letter of Sustainability from the parish
