Job Summary
Catholic Church Music Director to lead parish and school music ministry. Responsibilities include planning and leading music for weekend Masses and Holy Days, providing music for school Masses and liturgies, directing children’s and adult choirs, managing a Wednesday Music Club for students, collaborating with clergy and school staff, selecting music reflecting Catholic tradition, maintaining parish organ and resources, and performing related duties. May provide music for weddings and funerals for stipends coordinated with families. Qualifications emphasize a practicing Catholic with strong liturgical understanding, proficiency on the organ, choir direction experience with children and volunteers, leadership and communication skills, and the ability to foster a welcoming, prayerful atmosphere through sacred music.
Required Qualifications
- Practicing Catholic preferred with a strong understanding of Catholic liturgy and sacred music
- Ability to play the organ proficiently
- Experience directing choirs and working with children and volunteers
- Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills
- Ability to create a welcoming and prayerful environment through music ministry
