Job Summary
Prepare the cardiac catheterization laboratory for procedures, ensuring all equipment and supplies function properly. Assist physicians during cardiac catheterization and interventional procedures by operating specialized equipment such as fluoroscopy machines and monitoring systems. Monitor patients' vital signs, document data, and report abnormalities promptly. Position, drape, and explain procedures to patients while administering contrast media and medications under physician direction. Ensure accurate documentation of procedures, patient data, and equipment usage in compliance with departmental policies. Adhere to radiation safety protocols, infection control guidelines, and accreditation standards. Conduct routine maintenance and troubleshooting of Cath Lab equipment. Provide post-procedural care and instructions to patients. Requires CVT, CRT, or RN licensure; BCLS within 30 days; ACLS preferred. Arkansas candidates must hold an active RCIS certification.
Required Qualifications
- 1-2 years of experience in a Cardiac Cath Lab or cardiovascular diagnostic setting
- Proficiency in cardiovascular diagnostic and interventional procedures, equipment use, and patient monitoring
- Proficient understanding of cardiac anatomy, physiology, and related medical terminology
- Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with healthcare teams and patient interaction
- Ability to maintain focus in a fast-paced environment and respond quickly to emergencies
- CVT - Cardiovascular Tech
- CRT - Certified Radiologic Technologist
- RN - Registered Nurse - State Licensure and/or Compact State Licensure
- BCLS - Basic Life Support within the first 30 days of employment
- Active and unencumbered Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS), or equivalent certification
