Job Summary
Assist physicians in diagnostic and interventional cardiovascular procedures by maintaining sterile technique, selecting technical factors, and operating hemodynamic systems. Monitor patients, acquire images for the PACS system, and generate preliminary cath reports. Ensure hemostasis of puncture sites and maintain accurate records of procedures and equipment status. Provide radiation safety protection and participate in quality improvement activities. If assigned to EP, perform specialized equipment operations, analyze electrocardiograph data, and assist with arrhythmia ablation and mapping. If assigned to IT support, manage EMR systems and imaging equipment, acting as the superuser for CV and Cath Lab staff.
Required Qualifications
- CA Certified Radiologic Technologist (CRT)
- BLS Fluoroscopy permit within 6 months of hire/transfer
- Must meet Cath Lab Tech competency checklist requirements
- Experience in cardiac catheterization, interventional radiology and peripheral vascular procedures
- In-depth knowledge of cardiac catheterization, interventional radiology, peripheral vascular procedures/testing, mechanics and equipment
- In-depth understanding of human anatomy, physiology, pathology, and medical terminology
- General knowledge of computer applications, such as Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel and Outlook) as well as Syngo dynamics
- Well-developed time management and organizational skills, including the ability to prioritize assignments and work within standardized operating procedures
- Ability to prioritize assignments and work within standardized policies, procedures, and scientific methods to achieve objectives
- Ability to work independently, as well as be part of the team, including accomplishing multiple tasks in an environment with interruptions
- Ability to identify, evaluate and resolve standard problems by selecting appropriate solutions from established options
- Ability to build collaborate relationships with peers and other healthcare providers to achieve departmental and corporate objectives
- Ability to maintain equipment as needed, including inspection, sterilization, and repairs
- Ability to function effectively and perform this position in an emergency situation
- Demonstrates competency in patient care for adolescent, adult and geriatric patients (if assigned to EP)
- Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care and services appropriate to the population served on the assigned unit or work area
- Knowledgeable of growth and development for all patient/family cultural, linguistic, spiritual, gender, and age specific needs
- Able to effectively communicate and care for patient and family as reflected in the Plan for Provision of Care
