Job Summary
Oversee planning, setup, execution, and breakdown of catered events, banquets, receptions, and special functions; supervise banquet, catering, and special event staff; coordinate movement, setup, and return of equipment, beverages, smallwares, and event supplies; serve as primary operational contact during events; ensure adherence to service standards, food safety, sanitation, and safety policies; collaborate with Catering, Culinary, Stewarding, Facilities, Security, and other departments for seamless event execution; monitor service quality and guest satisfaction; address guest concerns and resolve operational issues; manage inventories and staffing deployments; participate in required trainings and meetings; on-site at Well& by Durst in NYC; flexible scheduling required; 18+ minimum age; ServSafe certifications in place or in progress; physically capable of lifting up to 50 pounds.
Required Qualifications
- Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Some college coursework in hospitality, event management, business administration, or related field preferred
- Active ServSafe Food Handler Certification required
- ServSafe Manager Certification preferred
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience in banquet operations, catering, special events, or upscale food and beverage service
- Previous supervisory or leadership experience preferred
- Experience working in a high-volume hospitality, attraction, hotel, convention center, stadium, arena, or special events environment preferred
- Strong knowledge of banquet operations, catering services, and hospitality service standards
- Exceptional guest service and relationship-building skills
- Strong leadership, organizational, and time-management abilities
- Ability to effectively lead teams in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
- Ability to make sound decisions and resolve operational challenges with limited supervision
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Fluency in English required; bilingual or multilingual capabilities are a plus
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
- Ability to maintain inventories and operational records
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation and workplace safety requirements
- Ability to enforce policies, appearance standards, and service expectations
- Ability to work flexible schedules (including mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays, event days)
- Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds
