Job Summary
Wash and prepare foods for cooking or serving, then cook and present dishes for on- and off-campus catering events. Maintain cleanliness of event spaces to ensure an exceptional dining experience while following all quality control, portioning, and customer service standards. Assist with setup, execution, and tear down of catered events as needed, adhering to New York State, Monroe County, and university codes regarding alcohol, health, sanitation, and safety. Perform complex tasks requiring troubleshooting and analysis, mentoring less experienced staff in this Level 3 senior role. Schedule varies based on event needs and may fluctuate during University-wide events or academic breaks.
Required Qualifications
- Associate's degree in related field
- 1 year of relevant experience
- Equivalent combination of experience and education
- Knowledge of food service production and service techniques and standards, including food sanitation and safety standards and protocols
- Knowledge of allergens, food sensitivities and dietetic restrictions
- Skill in time management, organization, and multi-tasking in high volume environments
- Skill in verbal, written, and interpersonal communication
- Ability to obtain food safety/sanitation certifications required of the position
- Ability to deliver exceptional customer service
- Ability to work in the United States
- Eligibility to work in the United States
