Job Summary
Support the Lead Baker and Executive Pastry Chefs by overseeing production responsibilities and baking cakes, pies, pastries, breads, and tortes for guest services. Manually operate bakery equipment including sheeters, rack ovens, and proofers while accurately following recipes without supervision. Assess Banquet Event Orders independently and demonstrate basic proficiency in decorating using piping jells and icings. Plate desserts and maintain a clean, attractive environment in accordance with company standards. Man 50% of the bakeshop stations during high-volume three-meal periods.
Required Qualifications
- Ability to communicate effectively with Guests, Team Members and Management
- Six months of in-house training as a Baker's Helper or at least one year outside training in related fields
- Have working knowledge and basic understanding of all operations in the bakeshop
- Demonstrate the ability to man 50% of the stations in the bakeshop without hesitation
- Have the working knowledge and basic skills needed to safely operate bakery equipment, including but not limited to the sheeter, rack oven, and proofer
- Have working knowledge of and basic ability to use the proper tools, including but not limited to bakers' scales and spatulas
- Be able to follow recipes accurately without supervision
- Demonstrate basic proficiency in decorating using piping jells, icings, etc
- Have the working knowledge and basic understanding necessary to mix, including but not limited to wet mixing, dry mixing, creaming, and whipping
- Have the knowledge and basic understanding necessary to bake a variety of products
- Have the working knowledge and basic understanding necessary to assess Banquet Event Orders without assistance
- Demonstrate basic ability to plate desserts
