Job Summary
Mortenson is seeking a Category Specialist II - Lighting responsible for developing, implementing, and managing sourcing strategies for assigned categories to optimize costs, quality, and delivery while maintaining supplier relationships. Responsibilities include collaborating with internal stakeholders to capture category requirements, managing supplier relationships and business reviews, developing pricing strategies for proposals with monthly/annual category financial reviews, supporting cost reductions through supplier negotiations and Total Cost of Ownership analysis, monitoring market drivers (raw materials, capacity, disruptions, new products), forecasting and mitigating commodity inflation, and leading/mentoring team members with effective coaching and performance management. Qualifications emphasize a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, at least 4 years of experience, strong negotiating and communication skills, strategic thinking, and the ability to influence without authority. Base pay ranges from $72,900 to $109,400, with location-based adjustments; visa sponsorship is not offered. Mortenson provides comprehensive benefits and a commitment to equal employment opportunity.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in business, supply chain management, construction management or equivalent combinations of technical training and/or related experience
- Minimum 4 years of experience
- Current driver’s license
- Knowledge of construction processes, equipment and materials, purchasing processes and procedures
- Negotiating, organizing, planning, verbal and communication skills
- Strong strategic thinking, business acumen, and negotiations skills
- Effective communication and presentation skills
- Strong organization, planning and decision-making skills
- Ability to influence without authority
