Job Summary
Manage assigned produce categories by negotiating sales, gross dollars, and market share while recommending pricing, promotions, and shelf plans based on performance analysis and consumer trends. Own vendor relationships as a primary contact to drive growth results, oversee P&L, and ensure optimum inventory positions through collaboration with sourcing, supply chain, and space planning teams. Drive product development by evaluating national and private brand quality, analyzing market trends to recommend new items or discontinue lines, and specifying sensory requirements with the Quality Assurance team. Visits stores, distribution centers, and markets to observe competitive products and business trends, ensuring effective display cases and customer-focused solutions that sustainably drive results.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Business, Marketing or related field
- 3-5 years of relevant retail experience
- Solid understanding of marketing, merchandising, Consumer research and financial management practices
- Solid financial, mathematical, statistical, marketing, merchandising, and consumer research background
- In-depth understanding of store operations and merchandising methodologies and practices, including P&L and financial management
- Familiarity with Category Business Planning or ability to learn
- Ability to read and interpret P&L statement
- Exceptional skills in negotiation, influencing, analyzing problems and decisions, and taking initiative
- Proficient in MS Excel and MS PowerPoint
- Understanding of procurement, logistics, inventory management
- Ability to travel up to ~10% of the time, which may include weekends and evenings, as needed
