Job Summary
Category Manager responsible for managing the supply chain of direct material suppliers and parts, developing category strategy roadmaps, negotiating contracts, analyzing spend, and optimizing inventory. Leads cross-functional category teams, collaborates on supplier selection, aligns production and procurement with NPI and long-term business goals, and drives cost reduction, supplier performance management, risk mitigation, and continuous improvement across assigned categories. Requires strategic sourcing expertise, strong negotiation and project management skills, kanban/lean experience, and the ability to lead supplier relationships in a regulated manufacturing environment.
Required Qualifications
- BS degree or equivalent
- 10+ years of supply chain experience in a regulated manufacturing environment
- experience with strategic sourcing, category strategy development, and collaborative supplier management
- strong negotiation skills and track record of savings
- proficiency with MS Office and ERP systems (e.g., SAP)
- kanban/lean principles knowledge
- experience with master scheduling, forecasting, and material planning
- ability to manage multiple tasks/projects and drive continuous improvements
