Job Summary
Develop and maintain core assortments, planograms, and pricing strategies for dairy and meat categories while leading supplier negotiations to drive margin performance. Manage product introductions, discontinuations, and store-specific executions through collaboration with coordinators and stores. Evaluate new products against quality standards, negotiate exclusive programs, and oversee promotional funding and pricing discrepancies to minimize margin risk. Hire, coach, and manage Purchasing Assistant(s), conducting performance reviews and overseeing daily workflow accuracy. Serve as the key point of contact for stores, suppliers, and internal partners to ensure successful in-store purchasing initiatives.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in business
- Minimum 3 years' experience in a buying or category management role
- Experience in corporate retail in natural foods
- Excellent written and communication skills
- Ability to manage several complex projects simultaneously while working under pressure to meet deadlines
- Computer proficiency and technical aptitude with the ability to utilize MS Word, Excel, Power Point, Access, and Outlook
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to analyze results
- Strong relationship building, negotiations, and influencing skills
- Travel up to 25%
