Job Summary
Category Manager – Area (Beverage, Dairy, Disposables): Responsible for implementing the Area's category strategy across multiple Distribution Centers, optimizing local product assortment, managing exceptional SKUs and DWOs, and driving profitable sales growth. Supports Area and DC sales staff with assortment updates, inquiries, and merchandising goals; coordinates with culinary team, FSQA, and vendors to ensure alignment with national strategies; conducts market data gathering and provides opportunities for new products and conversions; leads product training and introductions, and collaborates on account bids and customer onboarding. Requires a four-year degree (or equivalent), 7+ years in category management, strong analytical and presentation skills, and proficiency with Microsoft Office apps.
Required Qualifications
- Four-year college degree in business or related field, or equivalent field experience required
- Minimum 7 years category management experience required, with some project management experience preferred
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel; working knowledge of PowerPoint; working knowledge of Microsoft Access a plus
- Ability to operate within a matrix organization; ability to work in a team setting; strong business acumen; strong interpersonal and presentation skills
- Experience in the food service or food manufacturing industries preferred
- Experience with product assortment planning, SKU optimization, vendor relations, and customer-focused category management
