Category Analyst - Package Transport

Job Summary
Plan, source, and negotiate transportation services for package truck and intermodal categories to minimize total cost to serve while ensuring carrier KPIs and SLAs are met. Prepare data for RFX activities, develop category strategies, and manage supplier performance using operational and cost metrics. Review freight bills for discrepancies, approve payments, and conduct root cause analysis. Lead negotiations for RFIs, RFPs, and RFQs to secure competitive rates, and forecast freight expenses for new business. Collaborate with sales, marketing, and internal stakeholders to respond to forecast changes and support network optimizations. Develop best practice tools and templates, and independently interface with customers and senior leadership. Travel approximately 15% annually.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree
- 5 years of experience in Supply Chain, Operations and/or Project Management
- 3 years working with transportation shipment execution and/or freight procurement
- Experience with internet-based load management (track and trace) software
- Familiar with package freight transportation equipment along with transportation regulatory requirements
- Experience with SAP, Warehouse Management or Transportation Management systems, Business Warehouse or similar reporting packages, databases, and analytical tools
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently as well as across functional or matrix team structures
- Ability to influence and build consensus around proposed opportunities within and outside of Supply Chain (Transportation, Customer Supply Chain, Sales & Marketing, Finance, Operations, etc.)
- Strong analytical skills with high level of organization, follow through & accuracy
- Well-developed relationship-building, problem-solving, decision-making, negotiation, data extraction and analysis
- Able to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Strong track record for execution and follow through when managing critical deadlines
- Travel Required: Approximately 15% annually
