Job Summary
Operate CT scanners to produce cross-section images of patient internal organs and tissues for diagnosis, following established protocols for different age groups. Perform technical procedures requiring independent judgment, including positioning patients, administering contrast material via power injector, and assisting physicians with biopsies and invasive procedures. Maintain sterile techniques, ensure radiation safety at ALARA levels, and verify image usability before sending to PACS. Clean and maintain all equipment and supplies after each use, transport patients as needed, and consult with physicians to determine proper testing procedures. Shift runs Tuesday through Saturday from 12pm to 8pm. Hourly range is $57.00 to $67.75.
Required Qualifications
- Performs all CT Procedures as requested by the Physicians
- Possesses knowledge of human growth and development
- Be able to understand the range of treatment and protocol needed by each patient age group
- Positions and transfers patients to the exam table
- Provides immobilization devices as required
- Selects proper technical factors on an individual basis and follows CT dose optimization
- Consults with physician and/or reads physician's orders to determine proper testing procedures according to established protocol
- Assists the physician in preparing and administering contrast material using the power injector
- Practices sterile techniques and prevents cross contamination
- Adheres to Infection Control Policies
- When necessary, must transport patients to and from the Radiology Department
- Provides radiation protection in accordance with prescribed safety standards
- Follows all established stroke protocols
- Assists Physicians with biopsies and other invasive procedures
- Examining images to ensure they're usable before sending them to PACS
- Clean and maintains CT scan equipment and the power injector after each use
- Maintains CT scan supplies and making orders for supply restocks as required
- Use CT scanners to produce cross-section images of patient's internal organs and tissues for diagnosis of medical issues
- Operate CT scanners and associated equipment safely and in accordance with established policies and practices
- Able to keep radiation exposure to ALARA levels and use CT dose optimization for different age groups ad required
- This position requires a minimum formal education of High School Diploma or equivalent
- a minimum of 1 year job-related experience
- ARRT in Radiology required
- New York State License with IV certification
Desired Qualifications
- Completed formal training in AMA approved school
- ARRT in CT desirable
- Through knowledge of CT principles/procedures
- One year experience as staff technologist
- comparable hospital setting preferred
