Job Summary
Casualty Desk Adjuster handles complex claims involving public entity, EPL/CSA, and other challenging coverage scenarios. Responsible for evaluating injury claims based on damages, insurance contracts, and applicable state laws; investigates coverage, liability, and damages in serious/complex claims; manages defense counsel in litigation and coordinates with counsel to address discovery, settlements, and strategic action plans. Formulates plans to bring claims to resolution with attention to indemnity and expense leakage, drafts coverage letters including reservation of rights and denials, maintains reserves, and supports travel as required. Requires strong knowledge of tort theories, negotiation and litigation management, excellent written and oral communication, and the ability to work in a team environment. Education includes a Bachelor's degree with preferred professional designations; minimum 5 years (10+ preferred) of related claims handling experience in public entity/EPL/CSA contexts; multi-state experience and adjusting licenses are advantageous.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or higher preferred
- Eight years of related experience to include personal lines claims experience and drafting coverage letters (reservation of rights and coverage denials) or equivalent
- Experience with commercial lines claims and litigation in multiple states preferred
