Job Summary

Conduct casework and support residents in Connective's programs to enhance their quality of life and ensure safe facility operations. Evaluate client needs, develop short-term plans, and assist with daily life skills, grooming, cooking, and community activities. Administer medication, manage emergency situations, and maintain health and safety standards while completing property walk-throughs. Liaise with community agencies, government officials, and First Nations providers to support individual care plans and facilitate client independence. Document daily progress, prepare meals, and participate in team meetings to ensure effective facility management.

Required Qualifications

  • Graduated with a Diploma in a related human/social service field
  • one-year of related experience
  • Experience with clients with a history of conflict with the law
  • developmental disabilities and/or spectrum disorders
  • experiencing homelessness
  • interaction with social agencies
  • experiencing mental health challenges
  • Experience working with First Nation communities
  • A demonstrated and clear ability to respond well in crisis situations
  • An understanding of providing service to people with different learning abilities
  • Demonstrated an ability to deal with potential violence
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Ability to successfully complete a Criminal Records Check
  • Current Emergency First Aid Certificate
  • Willing to complete Food Safe Certificate (Level 1)
  • Is a member of CUPE local 1936-11
  • Casual employees must be available for at least 21 shifts per month, of which seven are overnight shifts
  • If you are working full-time, or if you are a full-time student, we ask you for 15 shifts of availability per month of which five are overnight shifts
  • Is available to work flexible hours as needed, which may include some evenings/weekends
  • Candidates must be legally authorized to work in Canada
  • observe their weekly hours limit if under a temporary or study visa
  • provide proof of eligibility if selected for the role
