Job Summary

Respond to alarms, medical and fire emergencies, and other incidents while conducting campus patrols and securing University buildings and rural grounds. Provide access to authorized personnel, professionally address enquiries from staff, students, and visitors, and escalate urgent matters to the Security Supervisor. Enforce parking and traffic regulations, conduct preliminary investigations as directed, and prepare clear, detailed incident reports. Maintain independent operation within a 24/7 environment while staying connected with central security operations at St Lucia. Successful applicants must attend five weeks of full-time training before casual shifts are offered based on operational requirements.

Required Qualifications

  • A current Queensland Certificate II in Security Operations
  • HLTAID011 Provide First Aid
  • HLTAID009 Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation
  • A current Queensland manual open driver licence
  • The ability to work independently within a 24/7 operational environment
  • Sound judgement and confident decision-making
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Professionalism, tact and restraint when managing challenging situations
  • Experience responding to emergency or operational incidents
  • Confidence using security monitoring systems
  • The ability to prepare accurate reports and maintain appropriate records
  • A genuine commitment to providing a safe and welcoming campus environment
  • Availability to attend an initial five-week period of full-time training
  • Unrestricted work rights in Australia for the duration of this appointment
  • Verification of right to work in Australia
