Job Summary
Casual/on-call Peer Support Worker for Women’s Treatment in Vancouver responsible for afternoon and overnight support and supervision in the women’s unit of Harbour Light’s Treatment Program. Core duties include client contact outside regular hours, facilitating 12-step group work, medication administration, and administrative collaboration. Role requires supporting clients to acclimate to the environment, enforcing program rules, conducting follow-ups on mental health and well-being, providing crisis-appropriate support, and maintaining confidentiality. Must work within a residential setting, adhere to OH&S and privacy regulations, and participate in required immunization and security clearances. Compensation targets a salary range aligned with part-time casual/on-call staffing, with hourly pay reflecting market conditions and candidate experience. Required Qualifications
- Grade 12 or equivalent
- Peer Connect BC Peer Support Worker Certification (current or willing to be trained)
- Naloxone training, First Aid with CPR, Mental Health First Aid, and Non-Violent Crisis Intervention training (or willingness to be trained)
- Background Check satisfactory to The Salvation Army
- Criminal Record Review Program clearance for all positions at Vancouver Harbour Light
- Ability to obtain federal Enhanced Security Clearance may be required
- One year of related experience working with women/female-identifying clients
- Knowledge of 12-step recovery principles
- Experience with CAMS or another cloud-based client database is an asset
- Strong integrity and confidentiality
- Understanding of needs of women in the DTES and related recovery challenges
- Ability to provide a healthy, safe, non-judgmental space for clients
- Proficiency with Windows, Word, Excel, Outlook
