Job Summary
Operate cash register and electronic scanner to itemize and total customer purchases, receive payment, and assist in bagging groceries including dry goods, frozen foods, dairy, produce, and meat products. Process financial transactions for cash, checks, credit cards, food stamps, WIC, loyalty cards, and coupons accurately per company policy. Weigh and bag items while maintaining a clean, stocked department that complies with safety and sanitation standards. Merchandise check-stand displays such as newspapers and candy, ensure proper product identification and PLU usage, and communicate in-store specials and loyalty programs to customers. Comply with security, cash handling, and product handling policies while following all PPE and food safety guidelines.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- One year of prior retail or related experience
- Good verbal communication skills
- Good customer service and organizational skills
- Detail-oriented
- Basic reading, writing and arithmetic skills
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 30 pounds frequently
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds occasionally
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time
- Ability to bend, stoop, twist and turn frequently
- Ability to work in a retail store environment with varied temperatures
- Ability to be exposed to outside weather conditions
- Ability to work in a low to moderate noise level environment
- Ability to comply with Company policies regarding security, cash handling/cash drawer accounting procedures, product handling, the sale of alcohol and tobacco products
- Ability to comply with Company safety and sanitation procedures and standards
- Ability to follow all PPE and Safety Guidelines
- Ability to follow Food Safety and Cleaning Expectations
- Ability to follow guest experience guidelines
Desired Qualifications
