Job Summary
Operate cash register and electronic scanner to itemize and total customer purchases, receive payment, and assist in bagging items including dry groceries, frozen foods, dairy, produce, and meat products. Process financial transactions for cash, checks, credit cards, food stamps, WIC, loyalty cards, and coupons accurately while maintaining a clean, well-stocked department. Perform front-end duties such as merchandising check-stands, ensuring proper use of PLU's and reporting pricing errors. Comply with security, cash handling, and food safety policies while modeling high standards of customer service. May be assigned tasks in other departments based on customer experience needs.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- One year of prior retail or related experience
- Good verbal communication skills
- Good customer service and organizational skills
- Detail-oriented
- Basic reading, writing and arithmetic skills
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 30 pounds frequently, and up to 50 pounds occasionally
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time
- Ability to bend, stoop, twist and turn frequently
Desired Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED (preferred)
- One year of prior retail or related experience preferred
- Good verbal communication skills; ability to interact politely and effectively with customers
