Job Summary
Walk the store prior to each shift to check promotional and sale items, then compute bills, itemized lists, and tickets showing amounts due. Operate the cash register by scanning price-coded items, entering PLU or UPC codes manually, and compiling printed lists to display costs, tax, and rebates on the monitor screen. Receive payments via cash, check, credit cards, gift cards, or automatic debits while issuing receipts, refunds, credits, rain checks, or change. Greets customers entering the store, responds promptly to needs, and maintains clean checkout areas. Adhere to all Front End Department procedural guidelines and assist customers as needed with a friendly demeanor.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalency degree
- Must maintain the highest level of customer service at all times
- Must have the capacity to take initiative when problems arise
- Must have advanced attention to detail with the capability to prioritize and meet deadlines
- Must have knowledge with MS Office including Outlook, Word, and Excel
- Ability to multitask and have excellent organizational skills
- Must be able to support and contribute to team goals
- Ability to work varied hours/days as business dictates
- Must have basic knowledge of math, weights, and measures
- Demonstrate ability to use a Point of Sale System (POS)
- Ability to adapt to the ever changing high volume retail while working in a cross-functional team environment
- Must maintain proper control of cash
- Must be able to safeguard company assets
- Must be able to assist customers as needed
- Must maintain a friendly, energetic demeanor
- Must adhere to all procedural guidelines set by the Front End Department

Desired Qualifications
- Preferred 1-2 years grocery retail experience in Front End department processes and procedures
- Previous experience in a natural foods industry is a plus
