Job Summary
Operate cash register and electronic scanner to itemize customer purchases and process financial transactions for cash, checks, credit cards, and loyalty programs. Weigh and bag customer purchases while maintaining a clean, well-stocked check-stand department and merchandising newspapers and periodicals. Ensure proper use of product identification and PLU codes, report pricing errors, and communicate store programs and specials to guests. Comply with security, cash handling, and food safety policies, and assist with stocking items as needed. This part-time role at SpartanNash in Oscoda, Michigan, supports our global supply chain network delivering fresh produce and household goods.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- One year of prior retail or related experience
- Good verbal communication skills
- Good customer service and organizational skills
- Detail-oriented
- Basic reading, writing and arithmetic skills
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 30 pounds frequently
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds occasionally
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time
- Ability to bend, stoop, twist and turn frequently
- Ability to work in a typical retail store environment with varied temperatures
- Ability to be exposed to outside weather conditions
- Ability to work in a low to moderate noise level environment
- Ability to comply with Company policies regarding security, cash handling/cash drawer accounting procedures, product handling, the sale of alcohol and tobacco products
- Ability to maintain a clean and well-stocked department
- Ability to ensure the department complies with Company safety and sanitation procedures and standards
- Ability to follow all PPE and Safety Guidelines
- Ability to follow Food Safety and Cleaning Expectations
- Ability to follow guest experience guidelines
