Job Summary
The Cashier’s primary responsibility is to demonstrate the foundation of our service to each customer as they enter and leave the store, and support our mission of being the most helpful hardware stores on the planet. Responsibilities include greeting customers, answering phone calls, maintaining awareness of promotions, accurately and efficiently ringing on registers, maintaining cash at registers, and keeping the register area orderly. Must be a solid team player with an enthusiastic, positive attitude, able to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays, and committed to service excellence and customer satisfaction. Requirements include a High School diploma or GED (or current student status), retail/cashier experience preferred, strong interpersonal skills, physical ability to lift up to 30 pounds, and effective communication for in-person and phone interactions.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED equivalent
- Experience in a retail environment either in cashier or sales, a plus
- Solid team player with excellent interpersonal skills with a strong willingness to learn
- Ability and willingness to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends and holidays to meet the needs of the business
- Ability to lift up to 30 pounds occasionally
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time
- Excellent communication skills (oral and written) for in-person and phone interactions
