Job Summary
Provide prompt, friendly customer service and process POS transactions efficiently for cash, credit, and checks. Run daily reports, balance closeouts, and answer telephone inquiries while maintaining a clean, safe workspace. Perform light housekeeping and adapt to additional duties as needed. This role requires bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish, a high school diploma, and at least one year of retail cashier experience. Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States and available for Monday through Friday shifts with rotating Saturdays.
Required Qualifications
- 1–2 years of experience in retail, customer service, or a related field
- Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Proven ability to communicate effectively in English and Spanish
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in handling transactions
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, independently or as part of a team
- Demonstrated reliability, flexibility, and a positive, team-oriented attitude
- Ability to stand, walk, sit, climb, and balance in varying conditions
- Ability to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear
- Ability to frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally up to 100 pounds
- Specific vision abilities including close, distance, color vision, and ability to adjust focus
- Willingness to wear PPE such as hard hat, protective eyewear, and steel‐toed boots
- Ability to work in challenging environments including wet/humid conditions, mechanical parts exposure, outdoor weather, extreme cold, and loud noise levels
- Commitment to following safety standards and protocols
- Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States
- Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire
- HS diploma or GED
- Minimum 1 year of cashier experience
- Basic knowledge of Word/Excel/Outlook
- Confident, customer focused, and professional
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Basic mathematical skills including a strong eye for detail
- Available to work the required shift hours/days, including Monday to Friday and rotating Saturdays
- Must have reliable transportation to get to and from work
- Valid State issued driver's license
Desired Qualifications
- Previous experience with POS systems or cash-handling processes
- Customer service training or certification
- Basic knowledge of sustainable or green products
- Strong interpersonal skills to build rapport with diverse customers
- Wholesale experience in a garden center, nursery, or farming
- Experience or education in the horticulture, agriculture or related field
