Job Summary
Engage with customers, provide efficient checkout services, bag groceries, and conduct price verifications. Ensure correct totals by weighing, keying, and scanning items while maintaining accurate money counts in the register. Greet customers, answer questions, locate products, and promote the Thank You Card program. Bag groceries properly to prevent cross-contamination and ensure all items are received. Keep front-end racks, drink coolers, and cleaning stations stocked and presentable. Maintain a clean, safe, and sanitary environment by adhering to safety procedures and local laws regarding restricted items. Requires basic cash register knowledge, tender policy familiarity, and ability to work flexible schedules including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 16 years of age
- TABC/LACT certification where applicable
- Attendance at work
- Ability to learn new technology systems, methods and processes
- Ability to remain courteous with customers at all times
- Ability to communicate effectively with customers and partners in written and verbal form
- Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to maintain a high level of accuracy
- Ability to work flexible schedules including nights, weekends and holidays
- Basic knowledge of cash register
- Basic knowledge of tender policies and procedures
- Basic mathematical and counting skills
- Ability to use close vision, distance vision, depth perception or the ability to focus
- Ability to talk and hear
- Ability to use hands for reaching, touching or handling
- Ability to use fine finger movements
- Ability to stand or walk
- Ability to push, pull, maneuver or lift objects up to 40 lbs
- Ability to bend, kneel or squat
- Ability to push, pull, maneuver or lift objects up to 75 lbs
- Ability to climb, balance, stoop or crawl
