Job Summary
Engage with customers, provide efficient checkout services, bag and transport groceries, and locate products while conducting price verifications. Ensure correct totals by weighing, keying, and scanning items; maintain accurate money counts and stay current on tender policies for checks, credit, debit, coupons, EBT, WIC, and AML. Greet customers, answer questions, promote the Thank You Card program, and respond to complaints with a friendly attitude. Bag groceries properly to prevent cross-contamination, stock and clean front-end racks and drink coolers, and maintain a safe, sanitary environment. Comply with all local, state, and federal laws regarding restricted items like tobacco and alcohol. Requires basic cash register knowledge, math skills, and the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced retail setting. Flexible schedules including nights, weekends, and holidays are required.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 16 years of age
- TABC/LACT certification where applicable
- Basic knowledge of cash register
- Basic knowledge of tender policies and procedures
- Basic mathematical and counting skills
- Ability to learn new technology systems, methods and processes
- Ability to remain courteous with customers at all times
- Ability to communicate effectively with customers and partners in written and verbal form
- Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to maintain a high level of accuracy
- Ability to work flexible schedules including nights, weekends and holidays
- Close vision
