Cashier Assistant (Temporary - Hourly)

Job Summary
Prepare, cook, and serve meals, salads, and a la-carte items according to standardized recipes while maintaining accurate food preparation documentation. Act as a cashier to collect monies and record sales using a computerized point of sale system, ensuring precise meal counts and fee tracking. Follow sanitation codes to keep kitchen areas, equipment, and dining spaces clean, and perform housekeeping duties including sweeping, mopping, and wiping tables. Participate in on-the-job training for federally reimbursable meal requirements and provide customer service to students, parents, and staff. Maintain ServSafe certification and work Monday through Friday in the school cafeteria environment.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Must be ServSafe Certified or able to become ServSafe Certified within 90 days and maintain certification
- Considerable knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; Google Apps
- Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations required for completion of records and reports
- Ability to read, interpret, and administer detailed instructions and recipes in large quantities
- Ability to communicate information clearly and concisely both in oral and written form using a variety of communication techniques and tools
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with school system staff, students, parents, and the community
- Ability to work independently and as a team member and complete tasks in the absence of clear direction
- Ability to meet deadlines
- Critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Excellent customer service skills
- Must be able to come into direct contact with school system staff, students, parents, and the community
- Work is considered heavy physical work, requiring the exertion of a minimum of 40 pounds of force
