Job Summary

Interview clients to assess situations, capabilities, and problems, then develop and review service plans in consultation with them. Maintain case histories, prepare reports, and refer clients to community resources for job placement, debt counseling, legal aid, housing, and medical treatment. Provide volunteer training, assist with food pantries and seasonal assistance programs, and keep monthly client data records to produce statistics for The Salvation Army. Perform other duties as assigned within the scope of the Family Services department.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Services Field
  • Past employment with social services or human services
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
  • Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Knowledge of cultural flexibility, competency in working with multi-cultural participants and experience working with inner-city populations
  • Detail oriented, flexible, and able to work under pressure with minimal supervision
  • Must be willing to serve on boards, committees and panels
  • Must understand and support for the Mission of The Salvation Army
  • PA Child Abuse History Clearance
  • PA State Police Criminal Record Check
  • PA DHS Criminal Record/Fingerprint Check
  • Pennsylvania approved Child Abuse Recognition and Reporting Training

Desired Qualifications

  • Masters degree preferred
  • Bilingual ability (English and Spanish) preferred
