Job Summary
Ensure practical needs of service users are met, including provision of food, laundry, and clean bedding, while maintaining a safe, secure environment. Assess service user needs, refer them to appropriate support services, and provide key working support including accurate record-keeping and advocacy. Liaise with external agencies, health boards, and local authorities to support needs, and support medical and nursing staff in meeting healthcare requirements. Adhere to quality assurance policies, Health & Safety, and Code of Conduct while participating in handovers, supervising volunteers, and regular supervision with the line manager.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years' paid experience working in a social care setting, preferably within a residential environment (essential)
- Relevant Social Studies / Case Management accredited qualification
- Strong working knowledge of risk assessment processes and systems, including service user risk assessments, lone working, and activity risk assessments
- Good understanding of harm reduction approaches and low-threshold service delivery
- Solid understanding of the causes of homelessness and the complex needs of individuals experiencing homelessness, along with knowledge of appropriate supports and interventions
- Experience in needs assessment, key working, and support planning for individuals with complex needs
- Knowledge of statutory and voluntary sector services available to people experiencing homelessness
- Clear understanding of Health & Safety requirements within a residential care setting
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with good computer literacy
- Proficient in the use of IT systems, including professional email communication
- Understanding of and commitment to the vision, mission, and values of Depaul, with respect for diverse values and beliefs
