Job Summary
Facilitate psycho-education group sessions for persons in custody or under community supervision to address substance use and related issues, conducting initial engagements to build rapport and individual outcomes. Deliver short, low, moderate, and high-intensity programs while administering pre- and post-testing aligned to program intensity, including psychological assessments where required. Recognize the spectrum of substance use stages and respond to the full range of psychoactive substances, including emerging synthetics and poly-drug use. Consider client and family support needs, including dependent children, and flexibly meet varying client needs through outreach and adjusted hours. Operate within the framework of harm minimisation principles and the National Drug Strategy 2017-2026.
Required Qualifications
- Deliver psychoeducation group facilitation to persons in custody or under community supervision to address substance use and related issues
- An understanding of group dynamics, group facilitation and the delivery of alcohol and other drug psychoeducation in group settings
- An understanding of Motivational Interviewing and the Stages of Change model and relapse prevention strategies
- Undergraduate qualifications in health/human services/or be working towards with experience in delivering alcohol and other drug services
- Regular travel to Lockyer Valley Correctional Centre, Gatton, and Borallon is required
- The successful applicant will be required to obtain or hold a current Blue Card
- The successful applicant will be required to complete a Queensland Corrective Services Criminal History Check
