Job Summary
Conduct client intake and develop Individual Living Plans for families with children referred by DHS. Identify available benefits, provide referrals for mental health and substance abuse counseling, and advocate on the family's behalf. Meet with clients to evaluate progress, assist in regaining control over their lives, and facilitate self-help skills and coping strategies. Coordinate with Housing Specialists, Security, and other Case Workers to ensure effective service delivery while maintaining data collection and case records. Ensure families adhere to facility rules and regulations. Requires a Bachelor's Degree in Social Work or Psychology, minimum two years of experience with homeless families in a DHS shelter, and familiarity with community resources. Bi-lingual Spanish is preferred.
Required Qualifications
- Experience providing case management services to families with children referred from DHS
- Familiarity with community resources
- Understanding of challenges facing young (18-24 years old) homeless populations
- Consistently maintain required paperwork
- Ability to develop and maintain appropriate boundaries
- Must demonstrate sensitivity to the needs of clients in crisis
- Must demonstrate responsiveness to cultural differences and a commitment to the value of cultural competency
- Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, Psychology, or related social service field, required
Desired Qualifications
- Minimum two years of experience working with as a Case Manager with homeless families in a DHS shelter
- Familiarity with CARES, a plus
- Bi-lingual (Spanish) preferred
