Job Summary
Support and walk alongside young people aged 15 to 25 under the Guardianship of the Department of Child Safety, enhancing their capability to adapt and connect with goal-oriented supports. Act as an active partner in care coordination by advocating for assessment, planning, and review processes to achieve independence-focused outcomes. Lead the facilitation of organization and service supports aligned with agreed goals while maintaining respectful relationships with service users, agencies, partners, and colleagues. Complete all record-keeping requirements for compliance, accountability, and reporting, and contribute to continuous improvement activities. Follow technical practice manual procedures and relevant standards. Travel to relevant locations for service delivery or program development as required.
Required Qualifications
- Holds a current C Class Queensland Driver's License
- Current Working with Children Check, 'Blue Card'
- Holds or is willing to obtain a First Aid and CPR Certificate
- An Awareness of Indigenous communities and cultures and the historical and contemporary issues relevant to the needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients, and proven capacity to communicate appropriately
- An awareness of child protection issues, legislation and requirements and relevant issues specific to Indigenous children and their families
- This role may be required at times to travel to relevant locations for service delivery or program/practice development purposes
Desired Qualifications
- Experience in providing a relevant support service to vulnerable Indigenous children and their families
- Experience in negotiating and partnering with diverse agencies and organisations that enable young people to achieve independence e.g. services, schools, social welfare, Court, Police, Legal and health agencies
