Job Summary
Manage a caseload of long-term disability claims by prioritizing ongoing cases, obtaining necessary information to evaluate claim credibility, and preparing written rationales for decision acceptance or denial. Process claims for payment by setting up the claim system to ensure accurate and timely benefit receipt. Assess vocational rehabilitation opportunities with staff and use investigative tools, including testifying in court cases and providing depositions related to claim disputes. Clearly communicate decision rationale with confidence and sensitivity to claimants. Work independently while collaborating in a team setting within a hybrid model requiring two days per week in-office presence.
Required Qualifications
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with customer service orientation
- Ability to conduct detailed claimant interviews
- Solid critical thinking skills as well as the ability to negotiate with people
- Demonstrated expert analytical skills with the ability to think creatively and address the strengths and weaknesses of a claim and the fine distinctions in contract language
- Ability to work independently and a team environment
