Job Summary
Assess housing needs using Motivational Interviewing and a Progressive Engagement Approach to build trust, listen to client stories, and identify immediate barriers. Develop and initiate housing stability plans by collaborating with households to secure permanent housing, documenting action steps, and addressing challenges like evictions or trauma. Provide case management to assist clients in acquiring housing, including reviewing progress, establishing measurable goals, and attending weekly team meetings. Maintain accurate, confidential case management notes and prepare weekly reports with statistical information. Support residents exiting the shelter to permanent housing within a 62-unit non-congregate facility.
Required Qualifications
- AA in a human or social services field
- 2 years of shelter generalist experience
- Excellent inter-personnel skills
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Strong computer skills including Microsoft Word and database experience
- Ability to work with a diverse spectrum of high-need individuals
- Must have reliable transportation
- Valid driver's license
- Automobile insurance
- Demonstrates the necessary attitudes, knowledge and skills to deliver culturally competent services and work effectively in multi-cultural situations
- Support and uphold the mission, beliefs and values of Catholic Community Services and Catholic Housing Services
- Applicant must successfully pass required background clearances prior to an offer of employment
- Ability to work both independently and as a member of a team
Desired Qualifications
- Experience in case management
- Experience with transitional housing, landlord/tenant law and other housing issues
- Bilingual skills (English-Spanish)
